Location: We are seeking a Concessions Server/Bartender on Steamship Authority ferries, from Falmouth to Martha's Vineyard, and Hyannis to Nantucket with an overnight stay on Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket
The Steamship Authority is the largest ferry service to the Islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket from Cape Cod. We offer the lowest fares and the most frequent daily departures for passengers, automobiles, groups and trucks. Since 1960, we have been the lifeline to the Islands year-round. Our U.S. Coast Guard-certified crews are committed to the highest level of safety at sea. We are also dedicated to making customer trips both comfortable and convenient with spacious seating, snack bars with beverages including beer, wine and mixed drinks and free Wi-Fi and TV on-board.
Principal Function:
The Concession Servers not only serves customers food and beverage, but they also make sure that customer satisfaction as well as the atmosphere of the area meets Sodexo Live! standards. This is done by making sure workstations are clean and sanitized, and that food and beverages are served in a timely manner.
Concession Servers are the face of Sodexo Live!, and customer service is a top priority. Knowing the area you are working, helping customers find their way around, and being a source of information for them is also part of what it means to work for a Sodexo Live! location.
Concessions Servers/Bartenders may also be responsible for helping to set up and take down concession workstations.
Essential Responsibilities
- Staying overnight at Company housing in order to cover closing shift to Martha's Vineyard and next day opening shift to Woods Hole , or cover closing shift to Nantucket and next day opening shift to Hyannis.
- Serves menu items in a friendly and professional manner as well as operating the cash register/Point of Sale.
- Orders product and does inventory checks.
- Keeping dining areas, food service areas, and workstations clean and organized for both customer and employee benefit.
- Maximize Sodexo Live!'s Quick Serve revenue and operational excellence through implementation and oversight of systems and policies related to concessions operations.
- Contribute to goal of making Sodexo Live! #1 in Event Hospitality and the #1 Employer of Choice through personal commitment and leading by example.
Qualifications/Skills
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- A proven record of reliability, good attendance, teamwork skills and strong communication skills are essential. A pre-employment federal drug screening is required as a condition of employment.
- Ability to promote and participate in a team environment.
- Adaptable/flexible -- enjoys doing work that requires frequent shifts in direction
Benefits:
This position provides a very competitive wage in addition to TIPS. There is an overnight stipend of $40.00 for each overnight that you work.

Other Requirements:
- Able to work effectively and safely while subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight; must be able to maneuver in an often tightly-quartered environment.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
- Proven record of reliability and good attendance.
Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
