The City of Peoria Parks and Recreation Department is seeking an Irrigation Technician for the Sports Complex, Neighborhood Parks and Community Parks. This is a full time, benefitted position that will provide irrigation repair, maintenance, and programming to parks across our city. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience:
- Programming and operating computerized central control systems (experience with CalSense is preferred)
- Understanding and adhering to objectives and goals to meet water budgets and restrictions
- Maintaining irrigation supplies and equipment
- Operating and maintaining irrigation motors and pumps
- Performing regular and preventative maintenance on complex irrigation systems
- Maintaining parks and open space, irrigation systems, turf, trees, and plants
Minimum requirements:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalency.
- Experience: 2-4 years of experience required in the same or similar previous positions (park or sports field experience is preferred but not required).
- Licenses/Certifications:
- A valid Arizona Driver's License upon hire.
- The ability to obtain a backflow assembly certification within 6 months of hire.
- The ability to obtain a Water Audit Certification within 12 months of hire.
Desired Qualifications:
- Parks or sports field experience.
- Municipal irrigation or landscape maintenance experience.
- Possess considerable independent and professional judgement.
- Be willing to work flexible schedules to meet the demands of the position.
