Job Summary
As a Host or Hostess at the prestigious Annapolis Yacht Club—an esteemed Platinum-level private club—you will be the warm, welcoming first point of contact for members and their guests as they enter our dining areas. Your role is essential in setting the tone for an exemplary member experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet members and their guests warmly and professionally, ideally by last name when possible.
- Escort guests to tables, ensuring comfort and proper seating standards.
- Present menus, provide basic information, answer introductory questions, and offer guidance.
- Manage reservations and walk ins, using Club Reservation and Open Table systems.
- Communicate promptly with management, servers and kitchen staff regarding guest volume and seating turnover.
- Maintain a clean, inviting, and organized hostess station, entryway, and lobby.
- Answer inquiries courteously, handle reservation requests, and relay messages accurately.
- Assist with opening and closing duties, as well as occasional light side-work tasks.
- Operate with high attention to detail, anticipating guest needs and adjusting seating flow as necessary.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 1–2 years in a similar host/hostess, front-of-house, or hospitality role is required. Private club, upscale dining, or resort experience is preferred but not required.
- Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and communication capabilities, and the ability to multitask under pressure.
- Flexibility: Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Professionalism: Elegant grooming, awareness of club etiquette; adherence to uniform and conduct standards.
- Physical: Comfortable standing and walking throughout the shift; able to move menus or light items.
