Overview
The Banquet Server’s primary responsibility is to ensure exceptional dining and event experiences for members and their guests during banquets and special functions. This involves professional execution of fine dining service techniques, knowledge of standard banquet practices, and consistent delivery of warm and attentive hospitality. Banquet Servers prepare event spaces, serve meals and beverages, and demonstrate expertise in timing and coordination for plated dinners, buffets, receptions, and large-scale events. Banquet Servers work exclusively in banquet settings and must be available nights, weekends, and holidays.
Primary job functions are, but not limited to the following:
- Set up and break down banquet rooms according to event specifications.
- Provide professional banquet service, including but not limited to tray passing, plated dinner service, buffet maintenance, wine service, and synchronized team service.
- Anticipate guest needs, monitor satisfaction throughout events, and respond promptly and courteously to correct any problems.
- Assist in setting banquet rooms according to event order specifications, including tables, linens, chairs, flatware, glassware, china, and service stations.
- Execute proper fine dining techniques, including tableside service, French service, wine pours, and coffee service.
- Maintain knowledge of banquet menus, courses, timing, and proper etiquette to enhance the guest experience.
- Accurately follow event timelines and coordinate with captains, managers, and culinary staff to ensure smooth service.
- Properly clear courses, reset tables, and maintain a clean, polished, and professional service environment throughout the event.
- Ensure responsible alcohol service by checking IDs to verify the legal drinking age and promote a safe and compliant environment.
- Attend all scheduled employee meetings and banquet trainings.
- Consistently work as scheduled and on time, wearing designated banquet uniform, and adhering to the Club’s grooming standards.
Qualifications
- Proven work experience as a banquet server or in fine dining service.
- Knowledge of standard banquet service techniques and formal dining etiquette.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) and Food Handlers Certification.
- Active listening, effective communication, attention to detail, excellent presentation, and strong organizational abilities.
- Excel in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, maintain composure under pressure, and efficiently manage multiple responsibilities.
- Team spirit and ability to work collaboratively in synchronized service settings.
