Job Title: Server
Location: Essex County Club – Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA
Compensation: $18.00–$22.00 per hour, based on experience
Schedule: Full-time and part-time shifts, including weekends and holidays, Seasonal from May-October
A server at Essex County Club is expected to provide exceptional service to our members and their guests in both a la carte and event settings. The ideal candidate acts in the best interest of the club and the member, goes above and beyond to enhance the member experience, has a genuine interest in food and beverage, and is a reliable team player.
Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to)
- Set tables and dining areas for a la carte service and events.
- Complete opening and closing side work in a timely manner.
- Greet members and guests by name in a professional, courteous manner.
- Provide table service following the club’s established steps of service, including greeting, taking beverage and food orders, serving bread, and managing the overall flow of the meal.
- Run food and beverages to tables according to club standards (food and beverages served and cleared from the proper side).
- Understand and sell menu items, including daily specials; communicate knowledgeably about ingredients, allergies, and substitutions.
- Perform wine service and offer thoughtful beverage recommendations.
- Accurately enter orders and manage checks using the POS system.
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation policies and procedures.
- Work cooperatively with all front-of-house and back-of-house employees.
- Adhere to the club’s appearance and grooming standards.
- Handle guest compliments and complaints professionally, communicating feedback to management.
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of food and beverage, including proper service techniques.
- Strong communication and customer service skills; fluency in English.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs safely and remain on your feet for extended periods.
- Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
- Prior hospitality or restaurant experience preferred.
