The Landings Golf & Athletic Club is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to support daily agronomic operations across the 36-hole Marshwood and Magnolia courses . Position Summary
The Assistant Superintendent works closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to plan, supervise, and execute all aspects of golf course maintenance. This role is instrumental in leading team members, coordinating daily operations, and ensuring consistent conditioning, presentation, and playability across both properties. The position requires a balance of agronomic expertise, leadership ability, and a proactive approach to problem solving.
Key Responsibilities

Assist in managing all agronomic practices for 36 holes, including mowing, fertility programs, irrigation, plant protectant applications, and cultural practices.

Supervise and train maintenance staff; lead daily scheduling and task execution.

Monitor turf health, soil moisture, and environmental conditions to make data-driven recommendations.

Support calibration, mixing, and application of fertilizers and plant protection products in accordance with regulations and best management practices.

Assist with irrigation system management, troubleshooting, and water-use strategy.

Ensure equipment is operated safely and efficiently; coordinate with the equipment manager as needed.

Maintain detailed records including chemical applications, weather data, and maintenance logs.

Participate in course setup and presentation to meet private club expectations.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and long-term agronomic planning.

Step into leadership roles in the Superintendent’s absence.
Qualifications

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field (or equivalent experience).

2–4+ years of golf course maintenance experience preferred; assistant-level experience is a plus.

Knowledge of warm-season turf management and southeastern growing conditions desirable.

Georgia pesticide license (or ability to obtain within 90 days).

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required in golf course operations.
